Getting Started
Preparing for Your Journey
Before you begin Day One, take a few moments to gather the items you'll need and prepare your heart.
This devotional is more than something to read—it's an invitation to spend intentional time with God. As you make space to listen to His voice, reflect on His Word, and respond honestly, you'll be creating an environment where the Holy Spirit can renew your mind and strengthen your faith. Come with an open heart, a teachable spirit, and the expectation that God desires to meet you.
What You'll Need
A Bible
Keep your Bible nearby as you work through each day. While this devotional includes key Scriptures, reading the verses in their full context will deepen your understanding and allow God to speak even more personally through His Word.
Recommended Translation: Use a translation that is easy for you to understand and enjoy reading. Whether it's NLT, ESV, NASB, or another faithful translation, the goal is to spend time in God's Word consistently.
A Journal
A journal is one of the most valuable tools you'll use throughout these 21 days. Many of the insights God gives us are easily forgotten if we don't write them down. Your journal will become a record of your prayers, reflections, Scriptures, victories, and the ways God speaks to your heart.
Throughout this journey, consider writing:
- What God is revealing to you
- Lies He is exposing
- Truths you are learning
- Scriptures that stand out
- Prayers and answered prayers
- Areas where you are growing
- Questions you want to continue exploring with the Lord
By the end of these twenty-one days, you'll have a personal testimony of how God has been working in your life.
A Pen or Highlighter
Mark Scriptures that speak to you. Underline phrases that encourage you. Highlight truths you
want to remember. Don't be afraid to write notes in the margins of this workbook or in your Bible if that's part of your study habit.
A Quiet Place
Choose a place where you can spend uninterrupted time with the Lord. It doesn't have to be perfect. It may be a favorite chair, your kitchen table before everyone wakes up, a porch with a cup of coffee, or a quiet spot outdoors. The goal isn't the location—it's creating space to be fully present with God.
A Consistent Time
Set aside approximately 20–30 minutes each day if possible. Some days may take less time, while others may invite you to linger longer in prayer or journaling. Consistency is more important than perfection. If you miss a day, don't become discouraged. Simply pick up where you left off and continue the journey.
An Open Heart
Perhaps the most important thing you'll bring is your willingness to let God work. Ask Him to reveal truth, uncover hidden beliefs and to heal old wounds. Be honest with Him. He already knows your heart, and He lovingly meets you exactly where you are.
A Few Encouragements Before You Begin
- Don't rush through the daily readings. Give yourself permission to slow down and reflect.
- Be honest in your journal. This is a conversation between you and the Lord.
- If painful memories surface, don't be afraid. Invite Jesus into those places and allow Him to bring His healing and peace.
- Return to the daily declarations often. Speaking God's truth aloud helps renew your mind and reminds you of your identity in Christ.
- If possible, share this journey with a trusted friend, mentor, or small group. Encouragement and accountability can strengthen your walk and remind you that you are not alone.
- Most importantly, invite the Holy Spirit into every part of this process. He is your Teacher, Comforter, and Guide.
A Final Thought
"And we all... are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:18
Don't measure your progress by your emotions. Some days you may feel encouraged. Other days may feel challenging as God gently uncovers places in your heart that need healing. Trust the process. The Holy Spirit is faithfully working, even when you cannot yet see the full picture. As you surrender one thought, one fear, and one lie at a time, God will continue transforming you from the inside out.
